Choose how you hunt
Hartsrust's mix of open veld, koppies, bush and rivers suits several styles of hunting. Stick to one, or combine them over a multi-day trip.
Walk & stalk
The thrill of tracking plains game on foot. Bush walking and waterbank setups also give you opportunities at waterbuck and lechwe.
Voorsit jag
A more traditional approach: the South African sit-and-wait hunt, where patience and a well-placed shot do the work.
Range & equipment
Shooting range from 100 m to 1 km
Hone your skills at our on-site shooting range, with distances from 100 m right out to 1 km. It's the place to confirm your zero before a long-range hunt, and a good way to start a group trip.
Rifles, including ammunition, are available to rent by the day if you'd rather not travel with your own firearm.
After the shot
Processing & services
- Slaughter of game (head off, feet off, internals removed, skin on), included in the day fee
- On-site meat processing at Die Slaghuis, our butchery
- Shoulder mount, skull mount and flatskin preparation
- Taxidermy and tanning arranged separately
- Rifle rental, including ammunition
- Hunting bakkie, cool boxes, guide and tracker included in the day fee
Accommodation & catering
Stay on the farm during your hunt
Our two guest houses, Goodhope and Hartsrust House, sleep up to 30 hunters and guests and are serviced daily. Lunch is included in the day fee, and you can self-cater or choose full catering with continental breakfast, lunch and dinner.
